Higher Education Funding (HEFCE) has enabled us to work on the
development of an Independence at College Service. We aim to offer a
range of support to students with disabilities in Oxford providing:
1) Flexible (morning/evening/night) care packages that can enable
students with disabilities to make full use of accessible accommodation
including:
- personal and domestic support
- carrying books or shopping
- cooking
- cleaning
- laundry
- ironing
2) A pool of people offering physical/leaming support for students with
disabilities on campus during the day including:
- note-taking
- lip-speaking
- physical help in setting up workshop and laboratory equipment
- enabling a student to obtain information within lectures
- reading aloud
- assistance with private study and academic work
- transcription
- collecting books from libraries.
